Mr. Munyaneza Fidele Rwandan traditional dance Munyaneza Fidele is a Rwandan traditional dance instructor and choreographer. He is the founder of Inzovu Ndende Cultural Village, which promotes Rwandan culture. He is an experienced instructor of the following Rwandan dances: Intore; Umushagiriro; Igishakamba; Icumu ry’ubuganza; Ikinimba, Inyakibuye and Nkombo. Fidele has a decade of experience as a traditional dance instructor in a number of Kigali schools. He has been a member of Inyamibwa Cultural Troupe since 2010. Mr. Ngandu Bienvenue Basketball Ngandu Bienvenue is a professional basketball coach and former professional basketball player He is currently an assistant coach with the Rwandan Basketball League title holders, REG BBC. He has won silverware as a secondary school basketball coach. From 2007 to 2012, he played as a professional player in Angola, Rwanda, and the DRC. Since then, he has garnered experience as a professional coach at the senior and youth levels. Mr. Victor Shyaka Football Victor Shyaka is a youth football coach and former professional football player. Victor holds a C coaching license from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), as well as a C coaching license from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Victor has been a head coach for multiple youth football clubs and school teams During his career as a professional player, he played for different first and second division teams in Rwanda, including Police F.C. From 2007-2009, he was also a player-coach for second division outfit Pepiniere F.C. Ms. Gaelle Izere Rwandan traditional dance Gaelle Izere is an experienced Rwandan traditional dancer. She specializes in teaching Rwandan dance styles such as Intore, Igishakamba, Nkombo, Umushagiriro, and Ikinimba. Gaelle is a coach with the acclaimed Inganzo Ngari cultural troupe She is also a dancer within Rwanda’s national traditional dance ballet, Urukerereza. Gaelle has taught traditional Rwandan dance at a number of schools in Kigali. Ms. Evelyne Mukashyaka Ballet Instructor Evelyne Mukashyaka is a ballet instructor, performer, and choreographer. Evelyne is part of the Elite program at Mashirika Performing Arts and Media Company, and she is passionate about impacting young talented dancers in Rwanda. She started dancing at the age of 15 in a modern dance group called World Changers that performed in churches throughout East Africa. Evelyne also attended a ballet and contemporary dance training program in 2015. She then worked as a dance instructor for 4 years ballet, and contemporary dance at City Arts and as a private instructor. Over the past 2 years Evelyne has trained dance instructors. She has also been working as a dance teacher and choreographer. She has experience teaching dance classes at various international schools Mr. Samuel Habimana Robotics, coding & 3D Design Samuel Habimana is a STEM instructor specializing in robotics, coding, programming, 3D designing and printing, and the Internet of things. He holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in Computer Engineering, specialized in Software Engineering at the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology. For more than 5 years, Samuel has been teaching children aged 5 years and above. He has worked with multiple Kigali schools and organizations such as the Code Factory, The French Institute and the Kigali Public Library and is passionate about teaching STEM skills to children. Mr. Pie Byukusenge Martial arts Pie is well versed in multiple martial arts like Kung-Fu, Karate,TaeKwondo, and Judo. Pie Byukusenge is a professional Karate practitioner and instructor He is a 4th Dan black belt approved by the Rwandan Karate Federation. He has been a martial arts instructor in several Kigali schools.

Privacy Policy A legal disclaimer Welcome to Discovery School! We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our community. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard the personal information of our students, parents, and staff members. DISCOVERY PRIMARY We provide a world-class education that empowers children to develop, a love for learning, a passion for excellence, and strength in character. Welcome to the Discovery Primary We have a Francophone section, an English section and a Bilingual track. Our entire primary school broadly follows the Cambridge International Assessment and curriculum standards for classes and in all subjects except for French Section. All our French language curriculum content is aligned to the National French curriculum with standards set by Eduscol. Students in the Francophone section prepare to take end-of-cycle evaluations using both CNED/Eduscol and DALF assessments at the end of primary. The ability to apply knowledge through practical tasks, problem-solving, investigation skills, and the use of oral and written language. The development of personal and social skills, such as the ability to work with others and take on a leadership role within a group. Digital Literacy and Computing Children’s learning and competence in beginning to read and write is constantly supported and extended. PE (Physical Education) The physical development of students is encouraged through the provision of opportunities for them to be active and interactive and to improve their skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement. Our pupils are always supported in developing an understanding of the importance of physical activity and making healthy choices in relation to food. Kinyarwanda as an Additional Language To promote cultural awareness and inclusivity, primary school students have the opportunity to learn Kinyarwanda as an additional language. Art & Music Primary education nurtures creativity and self-expression by exposing students to various art forms, including visual arts, music, dance, and drama, allowing them to explore their artistic talents, develop motor skills, and gain an appreciation for cultural diversity through hands-on experiences and performances. Global Perspectives We support children in helping them to make sense of the world through offering opportunities for them to use a range of tools safely; Encounter creatures, people, plants and objects in their natural environments; undertake practical experiments and work with a range of materials. How we assess and track progress at the primary school level All new pupils have a baseline assessment in reading and math at the start of the academic year. Existing students typically have end-of-year data from the previous year to inform lesson planning and support for the next year. Using this information, teachers plan to accelerate student attainment and set targets for English and Numeracy. As the year progresses, we assess your child in the following ways: Observing them working in groups Asking them questions or giving them complex problems or tasks to solve Looking at their completed work End of unit assessments - i.e., after finishing a science unit of work on light External Cambridge assessments Regular formative assessment during lessons Twice a month, teacher teams collectively review individual student progress against selected critical standards in math and language.
